The results of the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index, prepared under the leadership of TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye) and shared with the public annually, have been announced. Konya Technical University (KTÜN) ranked 41st among all universities and 29th among state universities, once again demonstrating its role in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation.
However, the most remarkable achievement came in the category of the number of industry-cooperative projects: KTÜN ranked 5th in Türkiye in this category.
KTÜN stood out with its noteworthy success in the field of university-industry collaboration. In the nationwide evaluation, it ranked 10th in this category, positioning itself among the top universities leading in collaboration with industry. With this significant achievement, KTÜN once again revealed the active role it plays in transferring academic knowledge to the industrial sector.
Since 2012, the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index has been prepared by TÜBİTAK to identify Türkiye's most innovative and entrepreneurial universities and to measure their performance in this area. Universities in the index are evaluated based on 23 indicators under four main categories: scientific and technological research competence, intellectual property pool, collaboration and interaction, and economic and social contribution.
According to data from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), 197 universities with more than 50 faculty members were included in the evaluation process. However, only the top 50 universities qualified to be ranked in the index. The index, created with the contribution of 323 institutions over a meticulous 9-month data collection period, stands out for its multi-stakeholder structure.
KTÜN Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik shared the following remarks regarding this achievement:
“The strong ties we have established with industry, combined with our scientific infrastructure and dynamic academic staff, are elevating KTÜN to the top ranks among Türkiye's innovative universities. This success is not merely a result but also a reflection of our vision for the future.”
KTÜN’s strong collaborations with industry and its focus on social contribution were among the key factors supporting this achievement. This outcome indicates that KTÜN is further strengthening its position in the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem and is advancing confidently toward its strategic goals.
